KGL Backs Mahama Cares with Ultra-Modern Diagnostic Centre for Ridge Hospital

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), under the Government of Ghana's flagship Mahama Cares initiative, has received a significant boost in its mission to strengthen healthcare delivery through a landmark partnership with KGL Group and the KGL Foundation to construct an ultra modern diagnostic centre at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge).
The project marks a major milestone in the country's efforts to expand access to quality healthcare by strengthening diagnostic services within Ghana's public health system. Designed to provide comprehensive specialist imaging services under one roof. The modern diagnostic centre will be equipped with some of the world's most advanced medical imaging technologies, including a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine, a Computed Tomography (CT) scanner, a Mammography unit, a Digital X-ray machine and a Fluoroscopy machine. The facility is expected to reduce waiting times, improve access to advanced diagnostic services, enable more accurate diagnosis of complex medical conditions, support timely treatment and ultimately improve health outcomes for thousands of patients who depend on the hospital each year.

The partnership follows an appeal by the Ghana Medical Trust Fund on February 5, 2026, inviting Corporate Ghana to support the retooling of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital with modern diagnostic equipment. In response, KGL Group, together with the KGL Foundation, chose to go beyond the original request by committing not only to provide support but to finance the construction of an entire ultra-modern diagnostic centre. The commitment represents one of the most significant private-sector contributions to Ghana's healthcare infrastructure in recent years and reflects KGL Group's enduring commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.
The project has now entered its implementation phase following a joint site inspection by the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, and the Executive Chairman of KGL Group, Mr Alex Apau Dadey, who led their respective teams to the project site at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital. The visit marked the official commencement of work on what is expected to become one of Ghana's most advanced public-sector diagnostic facilities.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has expressed profound appreciation to KGL Group and the KGL Foundation for their exceptional commitment, describing the partnership as a shining example of the impact that can be achieved when government and the private sector work together in pursuit of a common national objective. The Fund noted that the project reflects the vision of the Mahama Cares initiative, which seeks to expand access to quality healthcare through strategic partnerships, sustainable investment and the development of modern medical infrastructure.
As work begins on this transformative project, the partnership between the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, KGL Group and the KGL Foundation stand as a lasting testament to the power of collaboration, shared purpose and visionary leadership. This collaboration is an investment in the health, dignity and well-being of the Ghanaian people. It represents a shared commitment to building a stronger healthcare system where every patient has greater access to timely, high quality diagnostic care and a better chance at healthier, more hopeful lives.
